ShutterBug Websites

I chose to look at Lens, the photographic journalism section of the New York Times. Lens seems to have more focus on what the photographers are doing and on what they're picturing. For example the featured story on the site today is about a photographer trying to capture an old neighborhood of Chicago before it changes due to the rapid gentrification in city. The site likes to give background information not only what is in the photos, but why the photos were taken what is the photographers goal. The site even tells the story of how the photographers ended up at two drive by shootings in Chicago. I think the average viewer can get a lot of information not only about photography stuff, but some things about the world itself, and how it is today. I would recommend this site, just because its kinda unique and it gives a different balance and level of information in its articles. One thing my blog I'm happy

Selfie Vs Self-Portrait

When reading about the differences between selfies, and self portraits it can be somewhat difficult to find what sets the two apart. Selfies are big now because we have the access to take them, we just have to take our phone out, and poof it is a selfie of us and maybe others.  I think the main difference is what the two are suppose to mean to others. With a selfie it's purpose might be to display some time or occasion, something that has happened. Whereas in a self portrait your not just taking a picture of yourself. In a self portrait you have to make careful descisions to achieve what you think is good. A self-portrait is can give insight into who is the subject, who is behind the camera, and what they are like, and what their life is like, and what they're feeling.  I don't really have a preference between the two, both can be very good. I would have to say just because of the abundance of selfies today, I would like to see more self-portraits.

Phobia Project

A phobia is the irrational fear, or obsession over something happening. 1. Crystallphobia. Fear of crystal or glass 2. Pediophobia-Fear of dolls 3. Nucleomituphobia- Fear of Nuclear weapons. 4. Mechanophobia- Fear of machines. 5. Cryophobia- Fear of extreme cold, ice, or frost. For my phobia pictures I want to make sure that all the photos of the phobias I take, show how someone could be scared of the things. One thing that I find interesting about phobias, is how someone can be absolutely horrified of something, and someone else can be  completely fine.  I want to make the overall mood of pictures to be either very lit or very dark. I want the things that are phobias to contrast with the background. For example if I was to do dolls, I would place a doll, then try to make the background darker. I think that placement is one of the most important factors when doing this, the point of this project is to give a different perspective of someth...

Welcome back

I picked this photo as one of my favorites, because it is just a really neat photo, with the blue and red and white. I picked this photo because it is so weird to see people playing soccer right in front of a nuclear power plant. This photo is one of my favorites, because  it captures what is happening in nature right now. 1. Now this was really the best song this year, but it was my personal favorite. Dark Red by Steve Lacy. Now I like this song a lot, because it is hard for me at least to define what genre the song is. It just sounds so unique and different, it is nice to hear something new and different in where I feel like most popular songs sound the same.  2. The best movie that came out this year in my opinion was the movie "Get Out".  This movie was so good because it provided a fresh concept for a movie, but something I feel like people can relate too. Whenever you see this movie  it puts you on the edge of your seat, ...
